Snowpiercer Is A Must-See

snow1
Entertainment Weekly released its “Apocalypse Issue” this week with a Mad Max cover and various stories of zombies, plagues and disaster. The slate of apocalyptic, dystopian-future-set films is vast and often interchangeable. One issue that has yet to be exhausted in the last few years, however, is climate change. In comes the environmental warning, culture-meld that is Snowpiercer.

Written and directed by Joon-ho Bong (The Host; Memories of Murder) and based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, Snowpiercer tackles climate change with fierce bleakness, often glaring at the audience with a stark warning of how carnal life can get in the darkest (and coldest) of hours. What’s Your Number?

To borrow somewhat from Louis C.K., watching a romantic comedy is a lot like picking out the best cinnamon roll at Cinnabon, even if you find a really, really good one, you’ll still kind of hate yourself after. The Avengers

Lastly, the grades are given with regards to other superhero films and not necessarily as films overall (though that is taken into account to some degree).

Thanks so much for reading and all the support. It’s been fun writing and hearing everyone’s opinions. I hope you keep reading and spreading the word!! So here we go, the 3rd Battle Royale: Continue reading

Puncture

What would you say if I told you there was an invention in 1998 that, if mass-produced, would have saved roughly a million lives in the U.S. alone? And what would you say if the only thing preventing that mass-production was the cost of producing this invention versus the standard, and much more dangerous, version? Michael Weiss (Chris Evans) and Paul Danziger (Mark Kassen) found themselves in the middle of this fight for a safety needle in Puncture. Continue reading
