Season in Review: House of Cards

With each and every year giving rise to technological innovations, it was only a matter of time before the likes of television programming became subject to substantial change. Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are making waves by releasing entire seasons of shows at once; thus, creating a new digital platform for the widespread viewing of new, original programming. Who knew, though, that the initiation of this new platform would be executed with such a deliciously evil and manipulative offering in Netflix’s series House of Cards.

Father of Invention

We’ve all seen Kevin Spacey play the arrogant bastard (Horrible Bosses, The Men Who Stare At Goats, 21, Superman Returns) and we’ve seen him play the more bizarre characters (Se7en, The Usual Suspects, K-PAX), so there is no denying his appeal and talent. Yet, my doubt was if he could take the former, mix it with the latter a bit and add-on some genuine emotions. In Father of Invention, Kevin Spacey does just that as fabricator, Robert Axle. Horrible Bosses

How many people hate their jobs? I’m sure many of you either raised your hand like an imbecile or slyly nodded your head. You may be dissatisfied, but does your boss make you do an absurd amount of work only to take the accolades for himself like Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey). Maybe he is a product of nepotism and a drug-addicted jackass hell-bent on running the company into the ground like Bobby Pellitt (Colin Farrell). Or maybe, just maybe, you have an obscenely attractive boss like Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston) who routinely sexually harasses you knowing full well you are out of options at other companies.
